## What are dashboard widgets?

Dashboard widgets are small interactive tools that present key data in visual formats such as charts and tables. These widgets are essential for condensing complex information into formats that are easy to read.

Customising them lets you adapt their appearance and their features, making sure they fit your reporting needs perfectly.

## Why should you customise dashboard widgets?

Customising widgets offers several benefits:

- **Tailored data:** Highlight the metrics that are most relevant to your business goals.
- **Greater clarity:** Change titles, filters and layouts to make interpreting the data simple and straightforward.
- **Better comparisons:** Add filters and conditions to compare different metrics or time periods easily.
- **Efficiency:** Get to the data you need quickly, without having to work through irrelevant information.

## Where to find the widget customisation options

1. Navigate to your dashboard inside the platform.
2. Choose the widget you want to edit from the list.
3. Click the widget to open the configuration and customisation options.

## How to customise dashboard widgets

### Step 1: Choose the widget

Select the widget you want to edit from the widget list. By default, every widget has a pre-selected chart type under the "ALL" filter. To change the chart type, click the chart icon and choose the one that best suits your data.

### Step 2: Configure the widget settings

Go to the "Configure" tab to edit the widget:

**Title:** Rename the widget to make its purpose clear.

**Metrics:** Update the data shown in the widget. You can add several metrics for line, bar and horizontal bar charts.

**Group by:** Define the grouping options for charts such as pie charts.

**View by:** Select the secondary dimension for visualisations such as line or bar charts.

**Breakdown:** Change the frequency of the time period.

**Date property:** Choose the date type (for example, Created date, Updated date) used to retrieve the results.

**Override date range:** Override the dashboard's global date range for this widget only.

**Order:** Sort the results in ascending or descending order.

**Limit:** Set a maximum number of results to display.

**Comparison date property:** Add a comparison percentage for better context.

Advanced settings are available for further customisation, but they are optional.

### Chart type selector in the widget settings

Choosing the right visualisation improves readability and decision-making. Select your **chart type** directly in the widget settings without interrupting your workflow.

**How to choose a chart**

1. Open **Settings → Configure**.
2. Choose the **Chart type** you want (for example, bar, line, pie) and check the live preview.
3. Move on to **Conditions** or **Save** your widget.

### Step 3: Add conditions

### Nested filter groups (OR logic)

Grouping filters lets you use advanced logic that mirrors real audience segments. Use several groups to evaluate **OR** conditions, while the **AND** conditions inside each group narrow the results precisely.

**How to create the groups**

1. Open the widget → **Conditions**.
2. Click "Add filter" to create Group 1.
3. Use "+AND" to add more filters within the same group.
4. Click "Add filter" again to start Group 2 (this adds an **OR** condition).
5. Repeat as needed, then click **Save**.

*Note: widgets based on visitor data support **only one** filter group.*

### Duplicate filters through groups

Sometimes you may need the **same field** twice (for example, Source = google **OR** Source = facebook). Duplicates are now supported through separate groups, allowing broader matching without having to resort to workarounds.

**Example**

- **Group 1:** Source = google
- **Group 2:** Source = facebook

### Warnings on linked filters

Some filters depend on one another (for example, **Pipeline** and **Stage**). When combinations conflict, you will see **clear warnings** to help you adjust the conditions and get accurate data.

**How it works**

1. Warnings appear directly in the **Conditions** section to highlight the linked fields.
2. Change one of the filters to clear the message, then click **Save**.

1. Click "Add condition" in the "Conditions" tab.

2. Choose the filter, the operator and the parameters.

3. Add more filters using AND/OR conditions, or delete the ones you do not need.

**Note:** if no data matches a filter, the widget cannot be saved unless the filter is changed or removed.

### Step 4: Save your changes

Once you have made all your changes:

1. Click **Save** to update the widget.

2. If needed, adjust the size or the position of the widget on the dashboard.

3. Save your dashboard layout to finalise the changes.
